Description: Residents of the greater Clarksburg community, local farmers and Newland Communities are hosting the Clarksburg Town Center Farmers’ Market beginning June 7. The farmers’ market will be open to the public each Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the intersection of Public House Road and Ebenezer Chapel Drive in Clarksburg. The market will highlight products from several area farmers including locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables. The market will offer goods from other local food vendors and artisans and feature live musicians and other family entertainment.
Local farmers Scenic View Orchards, Summer Creek Farms, Abundant Grace Farm and Moxley Farm will offer a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits, cider, eggs and honey. Other local food merchants will offer a selection of foods to eat on-site or take home, including crepes, eggs, bread, pastries, meat, Thai specialties and herbs.
The farmers’ market will also feature Fresh Give!, a program that provides fresh fruits and vegetables to Montgomery County families in need. Fresh Give! encourages local businesses to donate money to the market to purchase unsold fresh produce that is then donated to Manna Food Center in Montgomery County. The program offers numerous benefits for the local community such as providing deserving families with fresh, healthy foods, helping local farmers generate additional revenue and allowing businesses to make charitable contributions and collect tax benefits.
A host of festivities are planned for opening day on June 7 including live music featuring the Jimmy Purdum Band and special children’s activities including a hay maze. An artisan and craft showcase and RE/MAX hot air balloon will also be on site.
